Term Definitions for Newbies? What’s a BIN?

By admin | Jul 11, 2007

Is there a listing of definitions for the abbreviations and jargon in DNF for us newbies?
For instance, what’s this BIN that I see referenced in domains for sale and how does it work?

BIN means Buy It Now.

If someone asks for offers from $10 and there is a BIN of $100 this means that you can start bidding at $10 or you can simply buy it without the hassle of bidding for $100.

Here are some explanations of Domain sales terms

BIN – Buy It Now
Minimum Offer – or Minimum Asking Price
Reserve – minimum selling price in an auction
Bid Increment – minimum bidding increase in an auction
Traffic Stats – Proof of traffic, unique visits, hits, etc…

OVT is another that is worth mentioning here. Overture measures the number of times a user searches for a word or phrase on Yahoo & Overture. Checked via http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear…ry/suggestion/. Multiply by x10 for an approximation of Google searches. Highly overrated IMO but stays popular as a factor in determining potential traffic.
